Rapidly Growing Town In The Heart Of Pune And Mumbai - Talegaon Dabhade

“Urban Nest”.....Evovled as a rapid developing town with 

preservance of natural attributes. Talegaon is a beautiful 

combination of Nature & Urban Lifestyle.

In this blog I will give you all a small introduction of my proud to be hometown "Talegaon Dabhade......"

So lets go......

To start with the Historical heritage...

Talegaon has strong historical roots in the era of great Maratha king Shivaji 
Maharaj. 

The Dabhade clan traces its ancestry to Bajirao Dabhade, his son Yesajirao 
Dabhade was the personal bodyguard of Shivaji Maharaj.

The Dabhades were carrying out several raids in the rich province of Gujarat, they rebelled against Shahu & Baji Rao I. Baji Rao defeated them, and Trimbak Rao Dabhade was killed in the Battle of Dabhoi in April 1731

Umabai Dabhade the wife of Khanderao and mother of Trimbak Rao, became the matriarch of the family after their death.

The people from this Royal Family still resides in Talegaon and hence the town is named after their surname as “Talegaon Dabhade”.

Some Intresting Facts...:-)

This town has an interesting fact where its railway station “Ghorawadi” has both 
the train platforms on one side and its only one of its kind in entire world. As 
normally there are two platforms on opposite sides for each railway station.

There is also a mandir of Paanch Pandav & Draupati in the town, which is unique in the entire world
You will find the horticulture training center in the town which is famous for The 

Genesis Technolgy thats first of its kind in India & Asia.

Talegaon being the center point of Pune & Mumbai the people widely travel on 
day to day basis to these cities for business and employment.

Pune’s blooming IT hub “Hinjewadi” with big giant brands like Wipro, Acenture, 

TCS, Capgemini, Syntel, KPIT etc, is on a travel of 20 mins from Talegaon.One of the fastest growing Talegaon MIDC with big manufacturing giants like JCB, General Motors, POSCO etc have 

their presence in here which has added to a wider employment market.

Being on the a higher altitude than the famous nearby hill station Lonavla, it has a pleasant climate 
throughout the year, which has grabbed many metropolitan’s attention.

With about notable increase in population in last 10 to 15 years there are number of migrants from the hitech cities of Pune & Mumbai who have 
permanently settled down in Talegaon.

With a short drive from Talegaon you can find many spots for family picnics with some lovers points as well. Where one can re-discover the nature and have some happy time with family and friends.

If you move from Talegaon towards Mumbai you will discover many places to visit in between.
I will like to mention the ones i have being to...

Moving from Talegaon upwards you will first come across a place called Kanhe from where at a distance of 35 Kms there is a place called Khandi. best to visit in monsoon. It has many waterfalls as you board the road towards 
the main village of Khandi. The human population is very very less there are  about 4-5 small villages with a population of nearly 30-40 houses per village that come across when you travel towards Khandi.

There is no special spot that is famous in this trip where ever you stop whether its a flat green plateau or its a waterfall every bit of it is panoramic.

......I personally think it has probably the most romantic climate in monsoon in the entire Maharashtra, just go and I am sure you cant prove me wrong! :)

When you come a little further to Kamshet village you can head to Pawana Dam from there which 
is just at a distance of 20 to 30 kms. This is another natures paradise where you will find fun boating in Pawna dam which has many water sports, horse riding on its coast. If you get into a devotional mood there are two mandir's just besides the dam namely “Prati Pandharpur” and “Shri Satya Saibaba Temple”.

......Are you a Bike freak?? Check out this place i guarantee you a scenic bike ride!!

Moving ahead you come across a place called “Karla” which is famous for its Karla Caves which are believed to date back to 160 BC this are a complex of ancient Indian Buddhist rock-cut cave shrines. This caves are preserved by MTDC.

The caves are beautifully carved with different sculptures of human as well as animals predicting the stories of their times.

The main cave features a large, intricately carved chaitya, or prayer hall, 
dating back to the 1st century BC. This is among the largest rock-cut chaityas in India, measuring 148 ft long and up to 46 ft high.

Here also resides the mandir of famous devi Ekvira who is especially worshiped by Koli samaj!

Moving from Karla Caves you will head to “Lonavala”, I think hardly there may be few people who don’t know about Lonavala & its astonishing beauty and awe-inspiring climate.

Lonavala is piece of heaven between Pune-Mumbai. From being famous shooting spot to the Bigg Boss house location, Lonavala has being visited by many big Filmstars and Business Tycoons. The chikki of lonavala will make you fall in love with its taste. There are variety of other interesting food range that you will come across in here. Many renowned personalities have their holiday homes here as its the best place to relax on weekends after hectic weekdays.

......So rejuvenate your life in Lonavala and I am sure you will return back with double zeal.
